Fluttering by

Hello and welcome. I'm fluttering by today with lots of butterflies.

I started by creating a rainbow panel using my distress oxide inks and a blending tool. Next, I spritzed water on through a stencil (not really visible though) and blotted up the water using a paper towel. I then die cut my panel using my NBUS Bitty Butterfly coverplate die by PTI. I also die cut a second panel from white Neenah cardstock. I trimmed of the lower part of my A2 panel to create a square card and adhered it to my card base. I adhered some of my rainbow butterflies flat into the die cut apertures (inlaid), while popping up the wings of three of my butterflies using clear foam tape. For the white butteflies I added a second butterfly on top of the inlaid one for a little added interest. The sentiment (English country garden - butteflies by Uniko) was stamped in black onto a strip of vellum.

  1. Love the interest you've created with these butterflies, colouring some and having them mounted differently to add dimension. A super little card.

  4. Your blended butterflies are so colourful and pretty, Marianne!! Great design with the die-cut and inlaid butterflies. Adding a second layer and popping up the wings adds lots of dimension. And the vellum sentiment banner is perfect to see through to the pretty butterflies underneath. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!

  7. Your design is awesome Marianne! What a masterstroke to leave some of the butterflies uncoloured and to place them so randomly. Fab dimension, but your lovely sentiment stole my heart - it made me drift off on a daydream of a calm and warm spring day in an English country garden. Thanks so much for sharing this with us at Less is More xx

  15. You are clearly having lots of fun with your distress oxides! I love the colours on the butterflies and it's perfect that they fit back in their apertures, but you've lifted the edges to get some movement. It's gorgeous. Xx
