Birthday boy

Last Sunday, we enjoyed a lovely birthday BBQ, and of course I could not turn up without a card for the birthday boy.

For the layout I used this week's fun sketch over at Sketch Saturday.

And since the birthday boy and I had been talking about books and the use of bookmarks (he told me he always folds the corners of the page, which means he can never borrow any of my books!!!), I decided to make him a bookmark, too. For that I used the first image I had been colouring to test the colours.

Materials used:
Image - Bugaboo (got it as a Friday Freebie)
coloured with Spectrum Noirs
Sentiment and number in balloon - computer-generated
PP - from my old stash of DCWV papers
CS - Core'dinations
Buttons - from my big bag of buttons
Ribbon - from my stash of Kars fibers

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Angel wings

Today I have been playing around with the new digi kit that I recently picked up from the Revalued Nook at the Nitwit Collections store. The great thing about digital layers is that they don't add to the weight of the card LOL, which is a very positive thing if you always have to post your cards. Apart from the layers on this card, I got carried away and added quite a few embellishments to the card, many more than I would do on a non-digital card. All this stuff on my card is from the same set, Crooked Halos, except the Joy text in the star in the upper left corner, which was added in Word.

If you look closely you can still recognise this week's sketch over at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
CHNC - #71 Stripes
Christmas Card Challenges - #23 Humor (theme always optional)
CCAYR - Inspired by a Christmas song (Hark! The herald angels sing)
Catch the Bug - May anything goes

CAS in pink and black

I have just made another (quick) card for the pink and black prompt over at Charisma Cardz. I just love that colour combination!

The Craftwork Card papers that I have used were a free gift with a magazine I bought in the sale in December. The flower die is Marianne Design, the oval dies are Crafts-Too. The base shape was cut out with a Lifestyle Crafts die and I inked the edges with Worn lipstick distress ink by Ranger. The sentiment stamp is from Ladybug Crafts Ink. The brad comes from my stash.

I'm also entering this card into the following challenges:
Top Tip Tuesday - #76 Clean and simple
Crafts and Me - #83 Punches and die cuts

Deconstructed Sketch #50

Last week I stumbled upon an amazing card and sketch by Jen Shults and I just knew I had to play along. To be honest, the prize on offer is pretty amazing, too (a full year subscription to the Ribbon Kit Club of the sponsor)! The colours for my card were inspired by this fortnight's challenge over at Colour Create.

I attached the top layers with foam pads for added dimension.

And here's the sketch I followed:

Materials used:
PP and die-cut label and flower - KaiserCraft (Chanteuse and After five collections).
Scalloped circle - Spellbinders Nestabilities
Sentiment stamp - Personal Impressions (Everyday Words Happy Birthday)
stamped with Old paper distress ink
Ribbon - from my stash
Button twine - Ladybug Crafts Ink
Pearls - Viva Decor pearl pen

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Deconstucted Sketch - Sketch #50
Colour Create - #95 Rose pink, kraft and white
Top Tip Tuesday - #76 Clean and simple
Crafts and Me - #83 Punches and die cuts
Sentimental Sundays - #101 For a special woman
Bunny Zoe - #23 Ribbon or twine
Catch the Bug - May anything goes

More Tomboy Jess

A few weeks ago I made a card with this same image, Tomboy Jess by Ladybug Crafts Ink. The current image was actually the first one I coloured, but the colours did not come out the way I had intended them, so I started over using slightly more subdued colours. Besides, I had some problems with bleeding, but I solved that for this card by fussy-cutting the image and attaching it with foam tape for added dimension.
The flowers were die-cut from a piece of felt-like material I got from the local bookstore and then coloured them in different shades of blue with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

For the lay-out I used this week's sketch over at Tuesday Morning Sketches:

Materiale used:
Image - Tomboy Jess digi, Ladybug Crafts Ink
Sentiment - It's only words 1 stamp set, Ladybug Crafts Ink
Colouring - Spectrum Noirs

Die-cut felt flowers - MD Creatables LR0106
