July Love from Lizi kit - 5 cards

Hello crafty friends. I hope you are all keeping safe and well. I have been having fun with the July Love from Lizi card kit, to which I am subscribing. It's always a surprise to see what is included. I'm often struggling to use the papers, since lots of layers are not my thing. However, this particular kit spoke to me because of the beautiful colours and floral designs of the papers, as well as the floral-themed stamp set. I even ordered the add-on 8x6 paper pad ... and used it!

So here are the first 5 cards that I created.

For my first card, I fussy cut one of the floral borders from the 12x12 sheet that was included in the kit. The border did not need much dressing up, except for some simple ink blending (Speckled Egg DOI), a green glittery peel-off strip from the kit and a stamped sentiment from a NBUS Pinkfresh Studio set that came with a UK crafting magazine.

Challenges:
SSS Wednesday - Midsummer blues
Shopping Our Stash - #426 KISS (Keeping It Simple Sister)
Aud Sentiments - #257 Anything goes + a sentiment

NBUS #17
Both the card kit and the Pinkfresh stamp set are NBUS

My second card features 3 letter box images that I fussy cut from the 12x12 cut-apart sheet from the kit. The background paper is from the add-on 6x8 paper pad. The sentiment stamp and pink card base came in the kit.

This card will probably go to Georgia, a sweet young lady at the local courier's office. She is always asking what is in those boxes that I receive every month.

Challenge:

The cut-apart sheet contained several floral clusters in addition to a huge number of single images. I have been fussy cutting quite a few of these images while relaxing out on the terrace. It's a very sturdy paper, so I had no problem foam-mounting it onto an (equally sturdy) quarter sheet from the 8x6 paper pad. A stamped sentiment and a few sequins from the sequin mix from the kit were all I needed to finish my design.

I was determined to do some colouring using the floral arrangement stamps. I stamped each of the images onto the smooth side of my Arteza watercolour card and coloured the images using Inktense pencils and a water brush. I die cut both panels using the same die from my stash (Catherine Pooler) and matted them with papers from the kit. I used cream cardstock from my stash to match the colour of the Arteza watercolour card.

I finished off the first of these with a sentiment and an mdf butterfly from the kit. I also added some streaks of clear Nuvo Christal Drops (included in the kit) to the water in my vases.

Challenges:
Penny Black and More - Say it with flowers
Colour Crazy - wk31 Anything goes colouring

For the second card, I decided to move my watercoloured panel to the lower right-hand corner and finished off with a sentiment from a sentiment stamp set by Simon Says Stamp as well as another butterfly from the kit.

  3. What a breathtaking set of cards! Love them all - and especially the fact that there are so many flowers on them... maybe because the third consecutive day with heavy rains (like in the tropics, really) has ruined just about anything that was in bloom around here...
