Guest Designing for Twofer #7

Hello and welcome! I'm super excited to be joining Darnell and the amazing DT at the Twofer Card Challenge this month.

Since I was selected as the 'Unconventional' winner for the May challenge (you can view my cards here in case you missed them of wish to admire them again lol), I decided I wanted to create a conventional + unconventional card combo for this month's challenge as well. Besides, it's fun to stretch your supplies this way. Here's what I came up with:

The prompt for this month's challenge is BEVERAGE.

The idea behind the challenge is to create two cards using the current prompt and following the challenge guidelines below.

For my first card, I used my stamp the way it was intended to create a Wedding card.

I started by stamping and heat embossing my NBUS Mosaic turnabout stamp (Concord and 9th)  in Silver pearl ep (Ranger) onto a square panel. Since I wanted to keep my design CAS, I only stamped the outer design twice, turning my card panel only once. I did some soft ink blending all around using Blush ink (Altenew) and then cut my panel to size. I stamped my main image (Cheers to You, Whimsy Stamps) onto a scrap of white cardstock in Antique linen first, so that I could use my Altenew markers to do my colouring before heat embossing the image in a greyish blue ep (Whisper). After fussy cutting my glasses, I decided I needed a bit more colour, so I blended a little Tumbled glass DI onto the bare glass parts. I used what was left on my blending foam to add a tiny bit of colour to the background behind my glasses as well. I stamped the sentiment (Bridal Bouquet, Clearly Besotted) in Black Jack ink (Catherine Pooler). After adhering the panel to my card base, I foam mounted my glasses and added a sprinkle of festive sequins.

For my second card, I stamped my image onto a scrap of patterned paper and fussy cut it so that I could use it as a party hat for my stamped and fussy cut panda (Cherry Blossom collection, Clear Impressions, part of a magazine/stamp set combo). I cut a slit into my glass-turned-hat so that I could slide the panda's head in. I did have to snip off the panda's ears, but I can assure you all that the panda did not suffer. For my background, I started with a white panel that was slightly smaller than an A2 (US) card size and stamped a string of party lights (line – Birdie Banners, Concord and 9th; lights – A little bit Oriental: Lanterns, Sheena Douglass) and then used a stitched rectangle die (SSS) to die cut the middle panel. I blended Tumbled glass and Cracked pistachio DI for a soft background and then coloured the lights using Prismacolor pencils, matching the colours from my party hat. The sentiment is also from the Birdie Banners set. I adhered my main panel flat onto my A2 card base and foam mounted my panda and outer frame.

So now it's up to you! I hope my cards have inspired you to go and check out the Twofer Card Challenge blog to see what Darnell and the other DT members have created and maybe play along.

I'm also linking up my Birthday panda at:

The Paper Players to help celebrate their 400th challenge!

Seize the Birthday - no toppings for me

and since I used snippets for my party hat and panda bear,
I'm also joining the fun at Pixie's Snippets Playground #330

  1. These are both lovely Marianne, so effective with the sparkly rays on the wedding card. And well done on your GDT spot.

  2. Ha ... we both had the same idea for our conventional cards, Marianne ... great minds! Love those shimmery rays spreading out from the cute wine glasses, they add so much to the celebratory design of your card! How brilliant to make the glass into a coolie hat ... and how adorable is that little panda wearing it (with or without ears!) under those magical lanterns ... adorable! Thanks so much for inspiring our players as our Guest Designer at Twofer this month! Hugs, Anita :)

I love that you used NBUS and I loved how you did your coloring on the wedding card to keep the colors subtle but add a ton of interest! And your sweet panda wearing the image as a hat is too clever by half! I just love the way your mind works! And I love the fantastic party background you gave him!! Two amazing cards!! Hugs, Darnell

And adorable second card with the panda wearing his party hat! :) So cute and very creative. Good to hear the panda was not harmed in the making of your card. :) Thanks so much for being our Guest Designer this month at Twofer! xx

    Liefs Ineke☀️
