In February, I was lucky enough to win a stamp and die set of my own choosing from Technique Tuesday from Miriam Prantner's blog and I could not resist the chicken family which has some great sentiments as well. The current Twofer challenge seemed like the perfect opportunity to start using these stamps, since it's all about pets.
Although we don't keep any chicken ourselves, we do have several friends who do, and they sometimes surprise us with fresh eggs. In addition, our landlord is also keeping chicken (and one turkey). We can catch a glimpse of them when we are sitting outside on the porch. For one of our cats, this is nog enough. She goes to visit them every day and sits there staring at them for a good while.
For my first card, I started by stamping the sentiment and focal image and then stamped the image repeatedly to fill up my panel. I coloured my chick with Prismacolor pencils.

For my second card, I decided that this small left-over panel from last year's shaving foam experiment would work well with this fun sentiment. I stamped and die cut the image, coloured it with my Prismacolors and popped it up on foam squares. I adhered my panel to a dark blue card base.

What a real fun card Marianne and lovely inky background. We have hens and at the moment far too many eggs, shame I can't send some your way!

Most definitely "s-peck-tacular" cards, Marianne! Those are great chicken images, and I really like the multiple images on that kraft background. That's a fun card. And the shaving foam-marbled effect for your second card is amazing. It helps that chick to really stand out! Thanks for joining us at the Twofer Challenge! Bev
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, Marianne, that is one specktacular shaving foam background! I have been staring at it quite a long time! Your single chick and sediment work perfectly with it! And I love your kraft design, too, and how you made one of your chicks pop out with your coloring! Great background stamping!! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #4! I hope things are going well for you both! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteYay for your mojo returning, I have missed seeing your posts. Just LOVE the chicken. We live across the road from a demented chicken - well it's a cockerel really - who decides to crow at any old time in the morning, from 5am some days to 7:30 at others. Not really supposed to keep chickens in this neighbourhood, but you try telling some people... anyway, I digress from your wonderful cards. Particularly like the one that is framed by that amazing background. Welcome back!! xx
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! Thanks so much for joining us at Cards in Envy.
ReplyDeleteYou made two adorable cards with that fantastic set! Lucky you! Love them both! hmmmm, I might need that set, too.....
ReplyDeleteLove the ready made bg, Marianne. So handy when short on time. And as one who raises chickens, thanks for the 'peeps' sentiment that I now MUST have! Your cards are adorable!
ReplyDeleteSuch fabulous cards, both of them with such a fun sentiment on the first card x
