Umbrella and NBUS

It's been a while since I last posted, but with all that's going on here, I barely find time to craft and I don't seem to have the energy to finish anything and post the results on my blog. My husband had a tumor removed from his colon back in June and is now on his second round of chemotherapy. So far, he is not suffering any serious side effects. That means he is worrying more about me than about himself, since I am still suffering from a frozen shoulder, which started as tendonitis back in March. It seems that this problem has to get worse before it gets any better, but it surely is wearing me out, so I'm grateful that the weather is starting to cool down a little so that I can bear to be in my craftroom again.

This week's prompt at the CASology blog is 'Umbrella'. Since summer isn't really over in my part of the world, I'm thinking sunshine rather than rain. This also gave me a perfect opportunity to use some of my NBUS (never-before-used-schtuff) in honour of Darnell's 5th NBUS challenge.

I adhered two pieces of washi tape (both NBUS) towards the bottom of my card panel and then stamped the sentiment (Hero Arts) and the umbrella image (from a set that came with a stamping magazine a long time ago and has never seen ink before). I then stamped the umbrella again on a piece of scrap cardstock, coloured it with Promarkers and popped it up using foam tape. I adhered the panel to a matching notecard and finished my card off with some clear Wink of Stella and a few sequins from my stash.

  4. So sorry to hear that your not well. And I agree with Barbara that no wonder you have not time to craft with everything going with your husband and yourself. I hope your Doctor is looking after you and your able to rest. I think this card is CAS perfection and I love that you went with a sunny day instead of a rainy one. I'm so very glad you were able to join us at ATSM this week. Take care of yourself!!

  5. I'm sorry to hear about the health issues in your family, Marianne. Despite all that, you have made a darling little card with a 'sunbrella'. Thanks for sharing it with us at ATSM this week.

  6. I'm sorry to hear you're both having such a rough time, Marianne, so thank you all the more for making time to play with us at CASology. I love that sweet little umbrella and the washi tape!

  7. Marianne, sorry to hear about the tough health issues you guys are battling right now. I must say that your card is wonderful, I love the popped up umbrella and the pretty colors and wash tape you combined..a great card. Thanks for joining us at CASology this week!

  8. Now that a month has passed (!), I hope that your shoulder is giving you less trouble, Marianne, and that your husband is still managing his chemo without side effects. Can you believe I am finally getting to you in the NBUS gallery?! Your umbrella card sure brightened my day! I adore those colors and just love the way you did the Washi and colored the umbrella!

I do want to thank you so much for playing in my NBUS Challenge #5 and I’m sorry that my nursing duties have delayed my visit to thank you. I know you understand, but I still want to apologize! You take care!! Hugs, Darnell
