As you may have gathered from my two cards above, this month's theme is SWEETS.
And in case you're as yet unfamiliar with the Twofer concept, the idea behind the challenge is to create two cards using the current prompt and following the challenge guidelines below.
I started my project by die cutting a small heart repeatedly from strips of cardstock, so that I could use those strips as stencils to create my candy hearts. For each row of hearts, I used a small amount of Aleene's True Snow and a single drop of reinker in the colours Bellini, Limoncello, Mint to Be, Sweet Sixteen and It's a Boy (CP Designs) and applied that through my 'stencil' onto watercolour card. After the embossing paste had dried, I fussy cut around all the hearts and stamped various sentiments (Three Amigos by Mama Elephant) using the matching inks (except for the yellow hearts, that required a darker colour of ink in order for the sentiment to show up). I arranged several of my hearts to fill a circle shape, using liquid glue to adhere them and then added a few more on top. I used foam tape to mount my die cut panel on top of my card base and then added my sentiment strip (Label Love by Altenew, stamped in Sweet sixteen ink and trimmed down).
For my second card, I blended several inks onto the hearts I die cut when creating my stencils and then applied glossy accents to give them a yummy chocolatey look. After the glossy accents had dried, I arranged nine of my chocolate hearts onto my die cut panel (Marshmallow cardstock by Bazzill, stitched rectangle die by SSS), stamped the sentiment (Happy Every Day by SSS) and then adhered the hearts using liquid glue. I foam mounted my panel onto my brown card base.
That's it from me, so now it's up to you! I hope my cards have inspired you to go and check out the Twofer Card Challenge blog to see what Darnell and the other DT members have created and maybe play along.
I'm also linking up my cards at:

Your chocolate hearts card is absolutely wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteI love your very creative ideas for this challenge, Marianne! Your clever and cute cards show how you don't even need a sugary stamp to create a sugary card. How perfectly you fussy cut all these hearts! The first is the quintessential Valentine or any kind of love card, and the chocolate hearts on your second card make my mouth water. I'm so happy to have you as our guest designer this month!
ReplyDeleteHuhu!
ReplyDeleteIch bin vom Day of the month card club Blog zu Dir gesprungen. Das ist wirklich eine schöne Idee mit den zwei Karten, die Du hattest. Die zweite finde ich ganz besonders hübsch! Sehr elegant und trotzdem verspielt.
Liebe Grüße von der stempelfrida
Marianne, your two distinctly different designs are a delight. The pile of conversation hearts are sweet and make for a great love card, your chocolate hearts are so pretty with the gloss. So nice to have you Guest Designing this month at TWofer Card Challenge.
ReplyDeleteI {heart} these cards, Marianne! Your first card brought back memories of the second grade for me...Michael gave me a huge box of candy hearts for Valentines Day, which I promptly tossed in a puddle; I thought we were just tree-climbing pals, lol!! It's a darling card, and all the effort you've put into this was so very worth it!! And your chocolates....they look good enough to eat! (if only Michael had given me candies like these, lol!!) Two great designs. Love 'em. Thank you also for joining us as a Guest Designer this month! Bev
