Sending smiles

Hello there! For today's card, I used the smooshing technique. After seeing Heather Hoffman's card for Winnie & Walter's 3rd Birthday Bash challenge, where she used the ink smooshing with acetate technique to create bands of colour on her card, I was determined to give this a go as well. My bands did not turn out as subtle as Heather's did, probably because my water colour cardstock wasn't wet enough and I had used more ink on my acetate, but I'm quite happy with how my card is evoking a sense of spring.

Before I did my smooshing (using cracked pistachio, fossilized amber & abandoned coral DIs), I had stamped an arrangement of flowers from In Bloom: Eva's Favorite Flowers (Winnie & Walter) across my panel using Archival jet black ink. After drying my panel with a heat tool, I flicked a little water onto my panel, let it sit on my panel for a few seconds and then dabbed up the remaining water with a paper towel. Next, I die cut my panel using the smaller scalloped rectangle dies from the Essentials: Noelle Cutaways die set (Winnie & Walter). I placed my panel in my Misti together with a sheet of vellum to determine the placement of the two outer flower shapes and stamped them using Archival jet black ink. After stamping my sentiment and the smallest of hearts from the Sending You set (Winnie & Walter), I foam-mounted my panel onto the vellum and then adhered this to my red card base (SSS lipstick red cardstock). To finish off, I added a few clear sequins.

  7. Lovely! Interesting background but I have to say the flowers stretching across the vellum and background make for the best effect.
