Enjoy the little things

I managed to whip up another card using elements from my UFO box. I had previously die cut the tulip frame from a smooshed panel, while the background had started from an experiment many moons ago with the so-called drunken acrylics technique, based on a tutorial by Lydia Fiedler on Splitcoaststampers. I could not get the technique to work using the paints I have, but I managed to salvage the panel by adding horizontal and vertical strokes.

The sentiment (Altenew) seemed like the perfect addition in these troublesome times. I hope you are all keeping safe and healthy. Here in Greece, we are in lockdown as of yesterday, meaning we are only allowed to leave the house for essentials, as well as for walking close to home or walking the dog with a maximum of 2 persons. So far, there have been only a few confirmed cases here in Crete, but none of us can afford to ignore the safety measures, for our own good. Fortunately, I can continue working from home as usual, which is a blessing.

Poinsettias for CAS Christmas

This card was created using a panel from my UFO box. I had previously stamped the image by selectively inking up parts and then added in details using coloured pencils.

I added some gold splatters and a previously stamped and die cut sentiment strip (SSS Word mix), that I popped up using foam tape.

February Rudolph Days

With only little time to spare to create a card for this month's Rudolph Days, I grabbed my November Love from Lizi kit and created a card using a topper and a small panel that I had previously embossed using the embossing folder from the kit and combined those with one of the papers and a sentiment from the sentiment stamp set. I did decide to use the debossed side. To finish off, I added some liquid pearls using the Nuvo drops that was also included in one of my Love from Lizi card kits.

The layout was inspired by the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.

I also thought this might be a good moment to share the other cards that I created using this same card kit last year, but never got around to posting in de craziness of the holiday season. The last two cards below are the only ones that I did manage to post last year, so some of you will have seen those before.

Happy 8th birthday to Uniko

I had these cards in the works this past week but did not manage to finish them until tonight. I had created the background on both cards using the same NBUS Woodware stencil and Altenew warm grey ink and then die cut a bunch of butterflies from cardstock in various neutral colours using the English country garden dies (Uniko).

I kept this first card simple, by layering two butterflies, stamping a sentiment from the Beautiful clear stamp set (Uniko) and finishing off the design with some enamel dots in two colours (Studio Calico).

My second card was sort of finished a few days ago and should have been in the mail for a card swap at StampNation. However, I was not entirely happy with the card and did not get around to posting it, which was a good thing, since I made a few changes tonight and am much happier with the result.
