OCC wk3/day2 - Die-cutting techniques - Butterflies

Week 3, day 2 of the online class Summer Card Class 2 focused on die-cutting techniques. Today, I'm showing 2 cards using the block-cutting technique shown by Betsy Veldman. Since I don't have any alphabet or sentiment dies, I decided to die cut a butterfly (Die'sire Butterflies die).

For my first card, I used the negative cut and then cut two more butterflies in purple cardstock and vellum. I pulled the papers from different paper pads. The lilac paper came from a collection of specialty papers (1 in lilacs and 1 in purples) from a Dutch bargain store, and when I took them from my stash, I discovered they came with a collection of mixed sequins, which came in very handy for this card LOL.

I heat-embossed the sentiment (Ladybug Crafts Ink) in white embossing powder (Artemio) onto some soft brown Papicolor cardstock. I matted the background on some brown Core'dinations cardstock and adhered it to a Neenah Solar white card.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

LCI - Happy Birthday
Papertake Weekly - Dies/punches
