Getting inky with Jingle Belles

Today I'm back with my second post as a guest designer for Jingle Belles. See here for my first GD post, in case you missed it. This week I decided to get inky.

I started by doing some ink smooshing with Catherine Pooler inks (Green tea, Daydream, Juniper mist), both on plain white Neenah and watercolour cardstock. My Neenah panel looked a hot mess, but after blending on a little Tumbled glass distress ink around the edges, I decided to run it through my Cuttlebug with a new to me embossing folder (Baublelicious by Leonie Pugol) and then decided on a whim to add some Pentart vanilla stencil paste to a blending foam and blending this over the raised embossed pattern. I did not intend to add the paste to the entire panel but it could not be helped, and boy, do I love the end result! It's so soft and shiny and pretty, while at the same time enhancing the raised design.

I kept the rest of the card very simple to let the embossed background shine (literally lol). I die cut my panel using a stitched rectangle die (SSS) and adhered it to my cream card base, which perfectly matches the Centura pearl cardstock that I used to die cut the JOY sentiment (Concord and 9th). I stacked two letters to make sure the sentiment would stand out and finished with a white heat embossed sentiment on a black strip that I foam mounted onto my die cut letters.

I'm inviting you all to break out your inks, paints, watercolours, pencils, markers or any other colouring medium you may have and come A-COLORING with us at Jingle Belles. Do pop over the the Jingle Belles blog to see what Lauren and Stephanie have created this week and to admire the creations that have already been linked up. You have until the 21st to play along.

I'm also linking up my card at:
