FTHS free stamp of the month June

A quick card today, showcasing this month's free stamp of From The Heart Stamps.

I printed the image onto Neenah Solar white cardstock and coloured it using SN alcohol markers. I die cut the panel using a SSS stitched rectangle die and popped it up onto a card made from pink SSS cardstock using foam tape. To finish things off, I added a few sequins and a little clear Wink of Stella on the butterfly, flowers and glasses.

Red and white Christmas

Just a quick post from me showing the card I made tonight. I had another look at this week's TMS sketch and instantly knew what I wanted to create.

I cut off a corner from a piece of red cardstock and adhered this and several strips of cardstock onto a sheet of printer paper before die cutting with a SSS stitched rectangle die. I stamped the sentiment and jingle bell onto a die cut tag and did some very basic colouring using pencils and then used my clear Wink of Stella on the bell. Some baker's twine and foam tape was all that was needed to finish things off.

Santa Baby shaker (Jingle Belles)

It's time for more inspiration for the current Jingle Belles challenge. This fortnight's prompt is Shake It Santa Baby, so we're inviting you all to create projects that focus on Santa, Christmas shakers, or a combination of both.

This week I just had to make a shaker card featuring this cute digital Santa babe (Winter Wryn) by Tiddly Inks. I coloured the image using coloured pencils (Spectrum Noir)  and created my shaker using stitched dies (SSS), some patterned paper from my favourite Christmas paper pad (Signature Christmas, MME), silver beads, sequins (Studio Calico and a few snowflakes from the SSS Snowdrift sequins), a sheet of acetate and a double layer of foam tape. I applied a few tiny dots of multi-medium matte using a piercing tool and dropped some of the pierced interiors of the sequins (that were included with my Studio Calico sequins) and a few beads onto those for a little added interest.

Sketch, coffee and water colour

I've managed to fit in a little crafting time this weekend and have been playing with my Cotman water colour set by Windsor and Newton and thought it would be fun to participate in the current Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop and the Watercolour Blog Hop.

I started wetting one corner of my Tim Holtz water colour paper with a big brush and clean water and then applied a wash of pink, because i was using this week's Mojo Monday sketch as my starting point. 

I added a little orange for some variation before drying my piece with a heat tool. I added splatters of pink and brown, drying in between. I then used two stitched dies by Simon Says Stamp to cut a rectangular panel and the round corner. I stamped the coffee cups (Holiday treats by Verve - they have been waiting to be inked up for a long, long time) in chocolate brown ink (PTI) and die cut the cups using the matching die. I added a small scribble using a pink Aquamarker (Letraset) and spread the colour a little using a damp paint brush. For the sentiment I combined a die cut (SSS; more NBUS that finnaly gets some love) with a heat-embossed word (All year round, Paula Pascual) in white (SSS) on vellum. I popped up the corner panel, one of the cups and part of the sentiment using foam tape and popped the entire panel up on a top-folding card made from Neenah Desert storm cardstock. To finish things off, I went over the coffee cups using my clear Wink of Stella and adhered a number of sequins (espresso by Pretty Pink Posh; even more NBUS) using Multi-medium matte.

Shake it Santa Baby (Jingle Belles)

I'm honoured to be making a guest appearance on the Jingle Belles challenge blog this fortnight, because I happen to be the person who proposed the current prompt to the lovely Lauren and Stephanie. As you all know, the best ideas often come in the shower, especially if you're singing, and I thought up this prompt when I was humming 'Shake it up baby (Twist and Shout)'. I was immediately thinking shaker cards, (dancing) Santas, Santa babes ... you get the picture.

For this week's card, I decided to focus on Santa. I thought this might be the perfect moment to break into the pack of dimensional plastic Santa stickers I had brought home from a trip to Sydney, Australia some 18 months ago. I wanted to give Santa centre stage, so all I did was cut a few strips of patterned paper from an old Simon Says Stamp card kit, stamp a sentiment and adhere Santa and a small embellishment sticker from the same pack.

And while I had all the supplies out, I decided to make a second card, with a mirrored design, a different Santa, some more embellishments, and a different sentiment. Wish all my cards came together so quickly.

Mask-erade day 1 and 2

I have two cards to share that I created for the current OCC class Mask-erade. I thought I had already learned a thing or two about masking, but the OCC teachers completely blew me away with their tips, techniques and creations.

Both the first day and the second day focussed on paper masking. On my first card above I used masking to create depth by placing different images behind one another. All the stamps are from the Sunny Skies set by Lawn Fawn. After colouring the stamped images with Promarkers, I masked the images again and used the two cloud dies from the coordinating die set to create a mask for my cloud background, which I created by making flicking motions off the mask using a blue Flexmarker and then softening the outlines with a blender marker. To finish the card, I cut a panel using one of the stitched rectangle dies by Simon Says Stamp and matted my panel onto a blue card using foam tape.

For my second card, I cut 3 masks using a feather die (by Hot Off the Press, free gift with a magazine) and a curved edge die (Custom panels dies by Avery Elle). I coloured 3 batches of translucent embossing paste (Wendi Vecchi) using distress inks (mowed lawn, crushed olive and salty ocean) and then applied these through a stencil (Leaves by Pronty). After the embossing paste had dried I die cut two feathers from vellum and added a little Multi matte medium at the bottom ends to inlay them into the empty space where my masks had been. To finish off, I stamped the sentiment (Say it in style, Clearly Besotted), cut the panel a little smaller and matted it onto strips of SSS cardstock before popping it up onto a top folding card I created from Soft stone cardstock (PTI).

Snowflake

Hi, I'm back at long last with another Christmas card.

This one came together fairly quickly, except for the sentiment. I pulled out some papers from the Signature Christmas paper pad (MME) and cut a curved edge on a piece of Neenah cardstock and a piece of PP using the curved edge die by Simon Says Stamp. I die cut the snowflake (The Cat's Pajamas) once out of PP and several times out of cardstock and glued them together to give the die cut more body. I finally decided on this sentiment from the Merry Everything stamp set by SSS.
