Earth day

It's that time of year when the lovely Jingle Belles are asking us to recycle in honour of Earth Day. So I opened up my recycle box and went to work with some spent Christmas crackers. All I added was a piece of Neenah Desert storm that I embossed with one of my very first Cuttlebug folders (using the debossed side on my card) and then stuck everything onto some Simon Says Stamps cardstock. And this week's TMS sketch of course. The picture does not do justice to the shiny red piece of card and the foil print, except on the far left of my banner strip, but it's really pretty and festive IRL.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Jingle Belles - Earth day/recycle
Shopping our stash - 198 Texture me
Allsorts - 307 Quick and simple

Playing with colourless blender

On day 20 of Kathy's 30 day colouring challenge, Kathy created this wonderful textured background using a piece of cloth and Copic blending solution. Since I did not have a bottle of blending solution on hand, I tried to moisten a piece of paper towel using the chisel end of my Promarker blender pen and then pressed the paper onto my background. I really love how this turned out, even though the texture is not as pronounced as on Kathy's cards.

I used Promarkers to colour the image and the background and added clear Wink of Stella and Glossy accents for a little sparkle and dimension. I used the darkest of my red colours to add a red border to my mat. Below is a close-up showing the effect of the Wink of Stella and Glossy accents.

Materials:
Stamps - Boughs and berries by October Afternoon
Colouring medium - Promarkers
Memento tuxedo black ink
Clear Wink of Stella
Glossy accents
Neenah Solar white cardstock

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:

ABC Christmas challenge - G is for glitter
CCC - 17 Anything Christmas goes
ATSM - 138 Holidays

I thought I would also share the card I made with one of the 2 coloured pieces of this post.

I cut the panel to size using a die from the Stitched rectangles set by Simon Says Stamp and die cut the sentiment using a die by MFT (Happy Hellos). I added clear Wink of Stella behind the die cut letters and popped up the panel using foam tape.
