CAS3 adding texture to one-layer card

Day 9/10 of the OCC Clean and Simple Cards 3 was all about creating textural effects on one-layer cards.

I used the following sketch from CAS(E) this sketch for my lay-out:

I kept this card very simple. I sprayed 3 colours of Promarkers (turqoise, marine and petrol blue) using the Tim Holtz spritzer tool and the Tim Holtz Bubble stencil, after masking the part where I wanted to stamp the sentiment (Petals & stems by Avery Elle). After stamping the sentiment I used a banner die to add some texture by embossing the die instead of cutting it. To finish the card off and to create a litle movement, I added some silver sequins.

I'm also linking the card up for the following challenges:
AEIheartU - 3 Ombre/gradient
Cards in Envy - Anything A2 goes
I ♥ ProMarkers - 212 Anything goes
CAS on Sunday - One-layer wonder
Less is More - 164 Use 3 of something
(3 colours, 3 sequins, 3-word sentiment LOL)

Merry & bright

I played a little more with my Wplus9 quilt dies. To celebrate their 4th anniversary, Wplus9 are challenging us to stretch it, i.e. to try something new. After seeing so many wonderful projects using glitter, I decided to give it a go myself, with the pastel glitters by Silhouette that arrived last week.

Well, the glitter adhered everywhere, except to the sticker sheet I had been using. Next, I tried using a piece of (old) laminate, but it seems that the adhesive is (no longer) strong enough, so only a thin layer of glitter stuck to the laminate and the blue/aqua colour wasn't really visible. To correct this, I coloured the back side of the laminate with a turquoise Promarker. I love the stained glass window look. The die cut frame and the sentiment (Christmas Wishes set by Wplus9) are heat embossed using Versamark ink and silver embossing powder (Ranger super fine detail).

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:
Wplus9 - Birthday celebration week 4: stretch it
Merry Monday - 97 Sparkle and shine with aqua/white/silver
ABC Christmas Challenge - D for die cuts
Crimbo Crackers - 59 Blue and white
Christmas Card Challenges - 14 Heat embossing

Birthday Candle Birdbrain

As promised, here's another card featuring an image by From the Heart Stamps, which is the stamp of the month February. The image was coloured with Promarkers. The sentiment is from a set by Paper Smooches (Birthday Sampler). I did some sponging (a skill I still haven't quite mastered yet) with Ranger's distress ink and added a few score lines using my Scor-Buddy.

I'm combining the following challenges with this card:
From the Heart Stamps - Stamp of the month February challenge
(progressive challenge; if you play along, you get the netxt stamp of the month)

The card also fits the LOVEFEST2014G 'Let's score' challenge
over at Splitcoaststampers hosted by Scor-Pal
