Happy Hollydays

I found a little time to craft today, so I created a fairly quick and simple card for a number of challenges, involving a sketch, Christmas (surprise!) and a holly die. I have also posted this card on Splitcoaststampers and linked it up for the Die Crazy challenge (hosted by Simon Says Stamp) of the LOVEFEST2014 event.

Here's the sketch I used:

Materials used:
Neenah solar white cardstock; red vellum (bought years ago at a Dutch craft fair); Sizzix embossing folder (Snow globe); holly die (Marianne Design), sponged with Ranger's distress ink; sentiment stamp from a fabulous set that came free with a magazine (bought during the after Christmas sale); Promarkers; Glossy accents; Wink of Stella glitter marker.

Hmm, now that I see the picture on my blog, the bright red appears more as orange, so I may try to take another picture that shows the true colours more closely.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:
Merry Monday - 96 Use holly on your card
CHNC - 165 Use a sentiment
CHNC Extra - always Anything Christmas goes
Jingle Belles - RED
Winter Wonderland - The most wonderful time of the year (anything Christmas)

Happy birdday chick

Today, I finally found some time to play along with Tuesday Morning Sketches again, which was long overdue.

I used a digital image, Birdbath chick by From the Heart Stamps. They have such cute images, so be prepared to see a few more on my cards. I printed the image on Neenah Solar white cardstock and coloured it with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. I could not resist using my Wink of Stella glitter brush to add some glamour to the bath bubbles and the bird's eyelids. I used a few Kaisercraft pearls (coloured with one of the Flexmarkers) on top of 3 of the bath bubbles. The sentiment is from the It's only words 1 set by Ladybug Crafts Ink, which I stamped in Memento Tuxedo black. The papers are from the Cubierta Miniatura paper pad by Cosmo Cricket. The lace is Marianne Design.

And here's the sketch I used:

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Wplus9

Wplus9 is celebrating their 4th anniversary this month. High time I used the Quilt Cuts 2 die that I have been hoarding for quite some time now. I thought it would be fun to try out a technique that Jennifer McGuire was showing a few days ago.

In the picture below you can see the dimension I added by adhering 3 layers on top of each other. I stamped the sentiment (Fancy Basics by Hero Arts) once on the white cardstock panel (Neenah solar white) onto which I had splattered a mixture of reinker (Picked raspberry by Ranger) and Perfect Pearls (Ranger) and a second time on the die cut shape (before taking the individual pieces out of the die cut square). Of course, I could not resist adding a little glamour and sparkle using my Wink of Stella marker and a few sequins.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:
Wplus9 - Step it up (adding dimension)
CASology - 82 Bold
The Card Concept - 3 Use monochromatic pink
(entry #2 in the Clean & Simple category)
Sweet Stampin' - Sentiments only
Seize the Birthday - Anything birthday goes.

No stamping...

Two posts/cards in one day! Yay! I guess you could say that I've been enjoying my day off LOL.

My card was inspired by this card by Kristina Werner. The stamp that she used is still on my ever growing wish list, but it also reminded me of the Marianne Design paper tape I had been hoarding for quite some time and never really new what to do with. Until now...

The poinsettias and the sentiments were part of the same set of 3 rolls of paper tape. Because I felt that two die cut ornaments (also Marianne Design) would be too much and only one would not be enough, I embossed the ornament first and then adheren a die cut one on top. All I needed to do to finish the card off was to add some twine and a touch of glamour using my Wink of Stella marker on the cut ornament.

I'm linking my card up for the following challenges:
Winter Wonderland - No stamping
CHNC - Die-cut or punched shape
CHNC Extra - always Anything Christmas goes
RCC - 90 Washi tape

Lots of hearts

Our neighbours' wedding was the perfect opportunity to get out my new heart stamps from Paper Smooches (Sweet Hearts). As a matter of fact, Paper Smooches are celebrating their 3rd Anniversary! Happy Anniversary Paper Smooches!!! In addition, they are hosting a fun challenge.

I stamped several hearts in HA Pale Tomato and Mememto Rhubarb Stalk for a bit of variation. I stamped the big heart again, fussy cut it and adhered it using foam tape. I matted the panel onto some paper strips that I had inked up with the Rhubarb ink. For the sentiment I die cut a banner (Small Folded Banners, Simon Says Stamp/Memory Box) and stamped the sentiment (Everyday Sayings, HA) in black Archival ink.

To finish things off, I added some sparkle to the big heart with my Wink of Stella glitter marker (see the picture below) and a few sequins.
